Hand Painted Princess Bed

Oooo La La!  Thank goodness I have a little girl who loves glitter and fairy tales as much as I do.

We bought this bed on craigslist (we LOVE craigslist) and it was in decent shape, but needed lots of work.  It was all off-white, a bit dingy, without any color at all- yuck.  So I got out my acrylics and went to town.  The foot board has a mural with a castle and city in the forest.  The headboard has a vintage princess crown that I downloaded from Graphics Fairy.  I printed the crown in black and white and then painted it with watercolors and markers.  I decoupaged it onto the headboard.  So simple!

I did the details in pinks, greens and yellows.  Once everything was painted, I gave the whole thing a good coat of hi-gloss decoupage spray.  While the spray was wet, I added fine powder glitter all over the bed. It was difficult to capture the sparkle in the camera, but the entire bed glitters!

Don't be afraid to buy something at a garage sale or off of craigslist and make it beautiful.

Happy Crafting,
